Places I Love- Icing on the Cake, Los Gatos

If there is not one thing I love more than shoes, I would have to say it would be chocolate cake and one of my favorite places is Icing on the Cake and their world famous chocolate buttermilk. It is the most decadent piece of chocolate cake I have ever tasted. I lately have been craving this little gem probably more so than ever since I have been trying to eat a little healthier and have cut back on the sweets (and pasta). It’s true what they say; you always want it more when you can’t have it. I think with the upcoming holiday I might have to renege on some of my new healthy habits (well, just for the weekend) and order a small treat.

Another favorite treat "Swirly Cakes"
Along with the most tantalizing treats, Icing on the Cake also has a great selection of cake stands, nesting bowls, dessert plates, candy, cards and candles. They are a one stop sweet shop!

Inspiration- A Sweet Sunday with my September Issues

There is nothing better than curling up in bed on a Sunday with all my favorite magazines and having them be the September issues is just icing on the cake!  I was reading one of my favorite blogs This Time Tomorrow and it looks like she had the same idea, as most of us girls usually do at the end of August.  Read about all things fall and the must haves!  I have already earmarked my wants and can't wait to start adding to the fall wardrobe.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Along with reading and daydreaming all things fall I got to spend the day with my family in Roseville for a wonderful birthday party.
Mom and I posing with our glasses of Prosecco.

Boutique of the Month- Simply Smashing!

I pop into this cute little boutique every time I am in downtown Campbell. The displays of pink and girly items are so much fun to peruse, there is always something that catches my eye. Owner Deb Rohzen fills her store with great designers such as Cop Copine, Weston Wear, Butter, Sharon Segal and dozens more.

This one stop shop offers jeans, dresses, cute tees, intimates to fabulous jewelry and whimsical gifts. I have a pair of hand hammered gold hoop earrings that I purchased a few years back and they are still my absolute favorite!

If you get a chance stop by and pick something up to make your day Simply Bubblelicious!

Mind the GAP

No, I am not currently in the fabulous city of London riding the Tube....I wish! Its just that I pulled out a dress from the GAP that is one of my favorites I love to wear (so comfy!)  The dress made me start thinking about how long the GAP has been around and how long I have been shopping at this retail giant.  The first items purchased were in 1980 and I bought....well who am I kidding,  my mom bought me a pair of jeans and a purple striped t-shirt that I just had to have for back to school (thanks mom).  The GAP is the best place to pick up basics and still is to this day.

Hot Tamale

In San Jose, California it reached a temperature of 100° degrees yesterday and it’s suppose to hit 91° today, hip hip hooray! (Yes, I am totally nuts for hot weather) Summer has FINALLY arrived! We have had the coldest summer on record for July and August and it has been a little disappointing since I have so many great sundresses and have not had a chance to wear them all. In honor of the heat I decided to go spicy red hot today. This dress reminds me of my hubby’s candy jar of hot tamales, the boy is addicted to them.

Trio

I love the crisp and dynamic trio of red, white and black. It's a classic trend that always looks fresh. Neutrals colors combined with pops of bright red create unique distinctive outfits. For this upcoming fall I am moving forward with combinations of red and black, what a stunning mix it will be!

Latest eBay Purchase

I was able to find and win one of the chunky necklaces that I have had on my wishlist for fall (see here for that list). I only spent $22.00 for the necklace that is currently selling for $69.50.  This little gem was meant to be mine for a fraction of the retail cost!  Ahh the little things that make me smile.

Summer Scarves

I must admit that at first I was not sold on the idea of wearing a scarf in the summer. I mean scarves are for winter right? Well, I caved last year and bought a few and started to pair them with a few items for chilly summer nights and then magically I was hooked. Now, I have way too many to count. Light weight scarves are a nice way to keep warm without having to bring out that heavy jacket to cover your cute outfit.

Tunic Tuesday

There are just some days I feel like wearing something a bit more casual and relaxed. Today I chose the comfy and oh so figure forgiving tunic. Flowy tunics are such a great casual piece to wear into the office and then transition into dressy evening attire if you pair it with the right accessories.

Every year I subject myself the pain of buying a new pair of jeans for the upcoming fall and winter season and like clockwork I try on hundreds of pairs to find that perfect one. What style jeans are you eyeing this year?

Green with Envy

The military trend was super popular this past spring, but instead of camouflage patterns, olive green utility pieces where huge! Looks like the color olive green along with khaki are going to have a strong presence in the next few months, so I checked out a few sites online for some new fall fashions and have added a few things on my wish list.
(Yes, I forgot to put my other shoes back in the closet. The hubby hates that!)

Happy Friday!

Out of Africa

We already know I have a soft spot for leopard print (see here) I am slowly adding to my collection a few zebra printed pieces. The black and white color combination is a nice pop without being to over the top when paired just right. I am currently on the hunt for a zebra printed trench coat for this winter. I did have my sights on a Trina Turk version a few weeks ago but it slipped out of my hands and it’s been haunting me ever since. The hunt continues!
